Retina & Eye Clinic provides a complete diagnostic eye examination and offers surgical treatment for conditions such as cataracts, retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, macular hole and epiretinal membrane.
Dr. Trichonas studied Medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. After his graduation he worked as Research Fellow at the Angiogenesis Lab, Harvard Medical School for 3 years.
He also successfully passed the necessary USMLE exams (Step1,2,3) to be able to practice medicine in USA.
He completed his first year of Residency (Internship) in General Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (Harvard Medical School)
He trained in Ophthalmology (Residency) at Cleveland Clinic Foundation-Cole Eye Institute and sub-specialized in Vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC, Pittsburgh).
After completing his training in Ophthalmology, he successfully passed the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) specialty exams.
In 2016 he was named Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, USA.
Dr. Trichonas has authored dozens of scientific publications and has given several presentations and speeches at conferences in the USA and Greece.
He also has a patent with Harvard University in combination therapy of photoreceptors after retinal detachment.
In 2019, Dr. Trichonas returned to Greece permanently and maintains his private practice in Ampelokipi (Athens).
