Fluorescein angiography

FLUORESCEIN ANGIOGRAPHY: HEILDEBERG-SPECRALIS

It is an imaging method in which we examine the retina and the macula. Specifically, fluorescein contrast is injected intravenously and then we take photographs of the retina. In these pictures we see the arteries and veins of the retina as well as the circulating contrast medium. Normally there is no contrast leakage from the arteries and veins. However, in some diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration, the contrast agent leaks, and we can locate the leak point. This is very important because it guides us in our therapeutic approach.
